Frequently Asked Questions

& Terms of Service

For Residential Services

How much does it cost to hire a pooper scooper?

Our plans start as low as $55/month, depending on yard size, number of dogs and visit and billing frequency. Most customers pay between $100 and $160/month. One-time cleanups are priced separately and based on the condition of your yard at the time of service. Quotes in most cases are accurate, however, no pricing is final until the yard is fully inspected on the first visit. We will communicate with you if there is any price change before starting services.

Do I have to sign a contract?

No contracts, ever. You can start, pause, or cancel your service anytime through your customer portal or by giving us a call. We just ask for 48 hours’ notice for cancellations or skips so we can let our team know to plan accordingly. If you pause service for more than 30 days, a first-time cleanup fee may apply when you restart.

For regular service, do you bill monthly or per visit?

You can choose your billing frequency and we offer Monthly, Quarterly, Semi-Annual or Annual options. All invoices are based on a 52-week calendar and averaged over your billing term. This keeps your invoices consistent, even during months with five weeks. One-time cleanups are billed separately.

What service options do you offer?

  • One-Time, Seasonal or Vacation Cleanups

  • Weekly, Twice Weekly, Bi-Weekly or Monthly Pooper Scooper Services

  • Yard Deodorizing

  • Commercial Services

What areas do you serve?

We serve residential and commercial properties throughout San Diego County. Currently, most of our clients are between Escondido to the North, Mira Mesa to the South, Poway to the East and the 5 Freeway to the West.

Do you offer year-round service?

Yes! We provide dog waste removal services year-round across San Diego County.

We scoop in the rain and colder weather too—as long as it's safe to do so and as long as your yard is not so muddy, that providing service would damage your landscaping.

If extreme conditions like flooding or heavy storms make it unsafe or impractical, we’ll have to skip service and resume service at your next scheduled visit.

Do you clean the Entire Yard?

Yes. We'll clean any areas of your property that have dog waste issues, including front, back, and side yards, flower beds, dog runs, etc.

Do I need to be home during the service?

Nope! As long as we have access to your yard, you don't need to be home. Just make sure any gates are unlocked or provide us with any necessary codes/keys.

How do I pay for your services?

All payments are auto-billed to your credit card that is kept on file. We offer a secure client portal where you can manage your payments, update your card on file, and view previous invoices.

How is billing handled for initial or one-time cleans?

We collect payment at time of scheduling, with the balance due upon completion.

How is billing handled for ongoing monthly services?

For ongoing services, your card will be billed on a prorated basis for your first partial month and then will be billed on the 1st of each month for that month's service.

For example, if you started service on January 7, you would be billed for services from January 7 through January 31. You would then be billed on February 1st for service in the month of February.

What happens if my card is declined?

We process payment on the 1st of each month. If your card is declined, we will discontinue service immediately until the issue has been resolved.

Our system will automatically send you a notification and will continue to attempt to process payment, however, if a payment is still unable to be processed by the 3rd of the month, a $10 late fee will apply.

If more than 30 days have passed since your last clean up, a first time clean up fee will be applied.

We will only pause service for periods of 30 days.

If service does not resume after the 30 day period you will be removed from the schedule.

Can I request a specific service day or time window for arrival?

To keep costs low and routes efficient, we have set days for each neighborhood that we service and will arrive at your home on the same day each week, when we also service your neighbors.

Our techs typically service 25-30 homes per day and their routes are auto-scheduled for them each morning to minimize their travel time.

So, while the service times tend to be very similar each week, the times will vary. But don’t worry, you’ll receive a text message when we’re on the way (usually with 15–60 minutes’ notice).

What happens if you need to skip my yard on my normal service day?

Skipped visits are rare, but do happen.

Reasons for a skipped visit may include things like a Holiday, unsafe weather conditions or lack of access (ie: nobody home and gate is locked or nobody home and a dog that is supposed to be inside is in the yard).

Under these conditions, we will call, knock on your door, notify you via the customer portal and or text you to let you know that we were unable to provide service that day.

You will still be charged for the cleaning for a missed day, however, we will pull double duty the following week. If you’d rather that we return the same week, a $5 driving/return visit fee will be added.

What is your Holiday schedule?

We do not provide service on the following Holidays: Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. If your pick up day falls on one of these days, we will skip service that week and pick up the following week.

We do attempt to staff up during the week between Christmas and New Years, however, in the event that we are short staffed, we also reserve the right to shut down operations fully between Christmas and New Years Day. You will be billed at your normal Monthly rate during that time, unless you scoop your yard fully during our shut down.

If we must miss any service during that week, please know that we will communicate with you fully, so there are no surprises.

What if my gate is locked or I forget to unlock it?

If we can’t access your yard due to a locked gate or other obstruction, we’ll have to skip the visit that day.

How do you ensure the safety of my pets?

Pet safety is our top priority. All of our scoopers:

* Sanitize shoes and tools between every yard using kennel-grade disinfectant

* Are background-checked and trained for pet-safe practices

* Close and secure gates before leaving (they'll even text you a photo of your closed gate when leaving, after every visit)

Can you clean the yard with my dog outside?

The short answer is no.

Safety for your pet and for our team is paramount.

Please take the opportunity to bring your dog in when you receive your "we're on our way" text.

While we love dogs and we'd really love to get a chance to greet your fur baby each week, because of previous dog bites and previous experiences with dogs who tried to escape while we were servicing a yard, WE NO LONGER OFFER SERVICE if your dog has access to your yard during our visit.

So, if you have a doggy door, it will need to be blocked during our visit. Additionally, if there is anyone home who may let the dogs out (ie: children, grandparents, nannies, house cleaners, pet sitters, dog walkers, spouse, etc.), you will need to tell them to keep the dogs in, during our visit.

Please note, that if your dog is outside when we arrive, we will attempt to reach you (knock, text, call) and can wait up to 5 minutes before we will need to skip your yard for that day and continue our route.

What happens if my dog bites the person servicing our yard?

Unfortunately, we will have to terminate service for your account, immediately. No refunds will be remitted.

Are your services safe for pets and kids?

Yes! All our cleaning practices and products are safe for both pets and children.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes, SoCal Pooper Scoopers is a licensed pooper scooper business and is fully insured.

Do you disinfect your equipment?

Absolutely. We sanitize all tools and shoes after each yard using pet-safe, kennel-grade disinfectants to prevent germs and cross-contamination.

How is the waste disposed of?

We double-bag and place waste in your trash unless otherwise requested.

Do you clean up dog waste from decks, patios, sidewalks, rocks or pebbled areas?

Yes, but these areas require extra time and care, so the following additional fees may apply:

  • Patios/Decks/Sidewalks – $5/visit

  • Rock or Pebble Areas – $3/visit

What if I have a large yard?

All of our standard pricing is based on a yard size of 1/4 acre or less. We have plenty of clients with larger yards. Naturally, a larger yard requires more time to service, so a slight increase in pricing would apply.

How do you handle leaves, debris and tall grass?

We understand that maintaining your yard is a lot of work and it may not always be in the best shape. No matter your yard's condition, we do our best to clean your yard thoroughly.

As you might imagine, it can be very difficult to find dog poop in tall grass or in a yard full of leaves or other debris. Since we do not offer yard maintenance, leaf blowing or debris pickup, there may be some poop that we simply can't see, so may miss. We will be back on our next scheduled visit and will get anything that was missed if yard maintenance is complete.

If you find an excessive amount that we missed, please let us know as soon as possible and we will do our best to accommodate a return visit.

What if I’m not satisfied with a visit?

We aim for 100% satisfaction. If anything was missed, let us know within 24 hours and we’ll make it right.
